Ukrainian boxer Usyk was in London on February 24th, when Russian troops entered his country's territory.
Usik eventually returned home and took up arms to protect his country from Russian aggression.
The boxer then decided to leave Ukraine, toward Poland, to prepare himself for the meal against Anthony Joshua.
In an interview after leaving his homeland, he related how he experienced war in Ukraine.
I know they shot our house. They broke doors and dragged some of our neighbours”, Usik told profileboxing.cz.
We cannot contact anyone. It's really terrible when your family runs off to hide in the basement”, he went on.
Usyk will face Anthony Joshua at the end of June or early July.
