At the joint press conference, Rama was asked about the Chinese and Russian influence in the Balkans, as he noted that Serbia received a Chinese missile system, implying the influence of China, which has decided not to express itself against the Russian attack on Ukraine.
Rama said that our country has no Russian influence, while China has a minimal impact.
“As far as third parties in the Western Balkans are concerned, I would say they are not the same and we are not known to have concerns about the influence of third countries in the same way. Russia's influence in our country is a problem, especially in present conditions. The EU's most intense engagement, the EU's bid to draw all EU countries closer, China is a country that has its stated goal throughout Europe, the former Eastern Europe, has a special format of China called 17+1 with these countries, an investment project. Albania has no special relationship with either one or the other. There is no Russian influence, and China is minimal. In my view Turkey is a valve for all of Europe. There is no reason to look at those countries but friends who are welcome in Albania to make investments. Their presence is much lower than the size of the media articles”, Rama said.
