Cardiff City is seeking a compensation of 80 million pounds from the French Club Nantes with the claim that the death of Emiliano Sala directly contributed to their fall from Premier League.
Sala was supposed to sign for Cardiff in January 2019, but died in a plane crash on his way to finalize his transfer to the English team.
“Blubards” fell from the first league four months later, finishing two points behind Brighton in 17th place and coaching the club at the time of Sala's death, Neil Warock, had said the strikers' goals could have helped them remain in the English football elite, Kosova Prees followed.
The team is now looking for 80 million pounds from Nantes, which they believe were lost on television rights, advertising and sponsorships after falling into Chamcorp, as reported by the “The Sun”.
Understandably, Cardiff made that claim at the appeals hearing at the Court of Arbitrazhi Sportiv (CAS), which is considering whether the Championship Club should pay Nantes 15 million pounds for Sala, the price agreed among clubs before he died.
Cardiff thinks Nantes should be held responsible for Sala's death after his agent Willie McKey boarded the plane on their behalf and then crashed and killed the Argentinian.
