For the first time in Greece's Parliament, the national minority Vlach, Albanian and Slavic.
This occurred during a debate at the Greek Assembly on April 8, 2022. It was the deputy of “Mera 25” in the Greek Parliament, Sofia Sakorafa, who cited Albanians as minorities in Greece.
Her statement has caused great anger within Greece, where many politicians have opposed it.
This, since Greeks do not recognise local Albanians there, as a national minority, unlike what Albania does.
The MP concretely during her address in the Parliament, speaking of a minority “vulge”, “Albanian” and “lavo-Macedonian” in Greece, has demanded that their languages be taught in the country's schools.
The statements in question:
We are obliged to give minorities the opportunity to experience their diversity and linguistic tradition in the education process, in schools.
One paranoid here: Finally, the Greek state has the obligation to overcome its communities' particular language and culture's fossil and complex treatment.
National solidarity and the existence of the nation are not threatened by them, neither by Vlachs, Albanians, nor Slav Macedonians.
And no one has the right to boast with the history of the Greek state in this field” the MP said.
