Justice Mahir Tutul is elected president of the Commercial Court

His election to this position came after the same received the confidence of the Council members' votes, reports the “Justice Trust”.

For Tululul and the other candidate who had competed in this position, Ramiz Red, the Kosovo Judiciary Council (KGJK) on April 15th, 2022 has completed the interviews.

The interviews were conducted by the appreciative Commission, which is in the composition of Commission Chairman Teuta Ibrahimi and Judges Drita Rexaj and Avni Mehmeti, members of the commission.

Commission Chairman Teuta Ibrahimi has briefly released the evaluation report for these candidates. According to her, Judge Mahir Tutuul has collected 87.6 points, while Judge Ramiz Red is 80 points.

Otherwise, the KRK at the 279th meeting, held on March 4th, 2022, had announced the contest for chairman of the Commercial Court, the competition for which only top candidates have applied.

Under the Law for the Commercial Court, to exercise the post of head of the Commercial Court, the candidate must have at least 5 years of working experience as second-instance judge.

Also, according to the Law, additional to the upper criteria the KDR will consider, managerial skills and assessment of the candidate performance for the Commercial Court.

The mandate for this position of Chairman Tutul is 5 years and will begin on March 21st, 2022.

The below is the biographies of Judge Mahir Tutul, who will now exercise the position of the first Comercial Court, the biography published on the official site of the Court of Appeals.

Mair Thutul, judge of the Department of Economic Affairs. Judge Tutul has graduated from the Jurydical Faculty, University of Pristina in 2003. He conducted the Jurisprudence exam in 2005, while he held professional practice at the Kosovo Lawyers' Oda in 2003. Tutuuli also worked as head of the Legal Office at “Kosovo Entre Program KEP” from 2007 to 2008.

While, in 2010, he was appointed judge at the Municipal Court in Pristina, where he worked until December 31st 2012. In January 2013, Tutul was appointed judge at the Department of Economic Affairs at the Constitutional Court in Pristina, which he held until September 1, 2015, when he was also appointed judge at the Court of Appeals.

Otherwise, the Law for the Commercial Court went into effect on February 25, 2022.
