Erdogan used harsh words against Joe Biden in his speech Monday. According to Erdogan, he must learn history well first.
“We are not interested in the demands of Armenians, who seem to be recognised by the administrations of different countries. That's how we deal with the U.S. President's statements. Mr. Biden must study and know the history of the Armenians very well. It is not possible for us to forgive him for trying to challenge Turkey without knowing these things. We know that Armenian citizens living in our country are concerned by this political abuse,“said Erdogan.
Joe Biden became the first American president to recognise events of the early 20th century against Armenians as genocide. That was the fact that caused disappointment in Turkey.
According to Armenian historians and scholars, 1.5 million of their people died in a <x0-genocide” carried out under the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
Ankara acknowledges that Armenians and Turks died as Ottoman forces fought against Russia Caristi.
But Turkey strongly denies a deliberate genocide policy and notes that the term was not legally defined at that time.
