The elections will be held on April 23rd, while the presidential candidate is also the former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, the current FIF management announced on Sunday (April 11th).
“Candidature for the president of the Ivory Football Federation is closed. Six candidates have been registered. They are: Yatte Elele Jean-Baptist, Arnaud Aka, Laurent Kouacou, Idris Dialo, Sory Diabaté and Didier Drogba”, was announced yesterday.
Claiming an candidacy “unity”, Didier Drogba said: Here we are! I can't wait for the campaign to start. Trust me to bring Côte d'Ivoire's football back to life”, the former popular player said.
According to the media, Didier Drogba, despite his status as an African football legend, is not necessarily the favourite in this election, due to lack of sufficient support within clubs.
