US President Joe Biden has received his Finnish counterpart, Saul Niinsto, to the White House, while he has also called Sweden's Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson during his meeting.
Sweden and Finland are NATO members, while several days ago Russia threatened those two countries that could have military consequences if they targeted membership in the Atlantic Alliance.
The White House chief said that with Finland's president, he talked about security in Europe and that Sweden and Finland are valued defence partners for the US and NATO.
I welcomed Finland's President Niisto to the White House today to talk about European security. During our meeting, I called Sweden's Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson to discuss expanding our cooperation. Both states are valued defence partners for the US and NATO”, President Biden wrote.
