INT PLOSE ERVIENCE: Sable Hallim

The political spokeswoman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Sübel Halimi, during a brief interview for the Periscope Journal has spoken about the heavy socioeconomic situation in the country about its management by Kurti Government, the role of the opposition in these circumstances, as well as the eventual consequences that can produce these circumstances. 1. Since we recently have [...]
1. Since we have recently seen an extraordinary supply of food products rather than alone, how do you assess the management of the situation by Kurti?
Halimi: The government must play a more active role, especially when citizens face a state of emergency like this is happening right now. Unfortunately, the government has chosen to play observer role in this crisis. While countries in the region and the world have taken steps to manage the situation since the beginning of the crisis, Kurti Government has chosen to see this situation from a distance, as an observer. So by leaving citizens alone, in coping with this crisis which, in addition to affecting every dimension of life, is making it unbearable for them.
2. How do you assess the rejection of the opposition's proposals by the Government of Kosovo, since months ago the LDK has also been demanding debate and warning of the situation we are in today?
Halimi: The LDK warnings have been permanent in all cases; we have not only made it the critic, but we have also offered possible solutions and alternatives to institutions, all of this in the function of citizens' goods, in order to cope more easily with price hikes.
In crisis situations, the government must overcome political resentments, especially when welfare and citizen interest are at stake. We as the LDK have given concrete proposals on how to get out of this crisis, which is making the cost of living unaffordable for citizens. Our proposals for the power crisis, the oil crisis and the crisis with the price of essential products, so we've offered preliminary solutions to all the problems we're facing. But this government has unfortunately chosen arrogance as a means of communication, abandoning citizens in the most difficult time.
3. Do you think the situation in the country will burden the lives of citizens, and that the same can cause social unrest?
Halimi: The government's created and inaction situation in taking adequate measures has already weighed down the lives of citizens. The price of electricity, oil, and essential products has reached its peak. This reflects directly on the welfare of citizens, even within just two months of December 2021 and January 2022, at Germany's embassy have applied for work visas to over 100,000 citizens. All our proposals are in place, preventing any unpleasant situation for the country and its citizens. / PERISCOP
