Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has hosted Northern Macedonia Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferin on Saturday at the meeting.
The meeting has discussed the current political situation not only in the region but even wider, following the Russian Federation's military aggression against Ukraine. In this context, President Osmani has stressed that Kosovo's NATO membership is more necessary than ever to ensure peace and stability in the region.
Chief Parliamentary Xhaferi has declared that Northern Macedonia supports Kosovo's membership in NATO, in the Council of Europe and other international organisations.
President Osmani has stressed that Russia and Serbia as its allies are trying to destabilise Kosovo and the Balkans.
Therefore the initiative for the Open Balkans, President Osmani considers it Serbia's tool for extending its hegemony to the region. According to the President, Russia and other autocratic states through agreements with Serbia are trying to extend their harmful influence in the region.
President Osmani and Chief Parliamentary Xhaferi also talked about the possibilities for deepening interstate co-operation.
Bilateral relations between the two neighbouring states were well appreciated at this meeting, while Albanians living in northern Macedonia were named a strong bridge of ties with Kosovo.
