Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday accused Russia of war crimes during the siege of this city, describing the attack on Marioupolis as “a terror that will be remembered for the next centuries”. In his speech to the nation, Zelensky said Ukraine is interested in peace and that continued talks with Russia are the necessary “”.

What's going on in Marioupol?
Marioupol, a strategic port city on the Azov Sea, is surrounded by Russian troops, has cut off the supply of energy, food and water, and this town in southern Ukraine has faced ruthless bombings.
The town has been isolated since the early days of Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion in Ukraine, launched on February 24th. Civilians are displaced in shelters, while humanitarian organisations say the city faces a humanitarian crisis. Russian forces have also cut off the city's access to the Azov Sea.
An adviser to the Ukrainian president said there was no immediate military assistance to Marioupolis, saying the closest forces were facing Russian forces, at least 60 miles [100 km] away. Severe battles are continuing around the Azovstal steel factory, one of the largest in Europe.
A unit of the Ukrainian National Guard special forces said four Russian naval ships landed the port of the Azov Sea on Sunday, as part of the Russian Army's efforts to cynically destroy the Ukrainian city, using all arsenal available to”. There is no immediate information on victims from this attack.
In a statement, the Marioupolis City Council said Russian soldiers have forced several thousand residents -- primarily women and children -- to leave and move to Russia. It was not said where to Russia they were sent and the AP could not immediately confirm this claim.
The city council said Sunday that close to 40,000 people have used their vehicles to escape the city through a humanitarian corridor over the past week nearly 10 percent of the city's population of 430,000.
Attack on Art School
After this attack, few details were provided, but Ukrainian authorities said Sunday that the Russian army bombed an art school in Marioupol, where about 400 people had been sheltered. The Associated Press could not independently verify this news.
Local authorities said the No Art School building. 12 was destroyed and people could be trapped in ruins. No notice has yet been given concerning possible victims from this attack.
Russian forces also bombed a theatre in Marioupol, where civilians were sheltered on Wednesday. Authorities said 130 people were rescued from the Drama Theatre, but many others may still be in ruins.
In Mikoliev, located on the Black Sea, following a missile attack Friday in a navy barracks were killed at least 40 Russian soldiers, said the town's mayor, Oleksandr Sencevch.
Authorities in the eastern town of Harkiwi said at least five civilians were killed in Russia's recent bombings, and among the victims was a nine-year-old boy. Harkiv has been under siege since the beginning of the Russian occupation, and this city has faced ruthless attacks by Russian forces.
About 70 orphan children were evacuated from Sumi, another surrounded Ukrainian city located in the northeast. The regional governor said most children needed continued medical care and added that they would be sent to a foreign state, but did not show which state the state is about.

About Kiev, the northwest suburbs of Buka, Hostomel, Irpin and Moschun, had fighting Saturday, Kiev's regional administration said. It has also been said that Slavutic, 165 km north of the Ukrainian capital, is “fully isolated”.
More than 6,000 people could be evacuated through eight of ten humanitarian corridors on Saturday, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereschuk said. That figure included 4,128 people from Marioupolis, who were sent to the southeastern town of Zaporija.

Poland has accepted more than 2 million refugees from Ukraine - most of the more than 3.3 million people that the UN says have left since Russia began invasion of Ukraine on February 24th. Hundreds of thousands of refugees have gone to Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova and Romania.

How many civilians died in Ukraine?
This is hard to confirm as the war continues. From the start of the war until midnight on March 19th, the UN High Commissioner's Office for Human Rights (OHCHR) registered 902 civilians killed and 1,459 injured.
Ukrainian officials say thousands of civilians have been killed.
