Gianni De Biasi is undoubtedly the most successful coach in Albania's national history, initiated by the fact that the Reds first arrived in the European finals, just under Italian direction.
However, the road to France 2016 has not been easy and the technician De Biasi before Albania's friendly match against Spain has shown in an interview for the Catalan media “Ara”, that some of the players who brought them to the nationals found them via the internet since there was no specific archive for them, while adding that the match against Serbia is also his worst experience in coaching.
I had to build a project from the beginning and convince players who had never been part of the nationals before. I looked online for Albanian names or surnames and then found the soccer videos. If that player were to shoot dreams and ambitions, then we would contact him. I also had a lawyer with me to pass the bureaucracy while I understood Albanian laws better. We just managed to give our nationality to the first player, and then it got easier.
Fighting Serbia? When we were confronted with them, I immediately thought about how it would be possible to play against them. Several relatives and family members of Albania's players had lost their lives in war by Serbs. As the riot began in the stadium, we rushed to the dressing rooms. The Arbiter asked to resume the game, but we refused them in a category. We risked our lives, and for me it's the worst experience as Coach”, De Biasi said.
