Yoan of Dagenham & Redbridge, 23, filmed 27-year-old Zouma kicking and slaping one of his domestic animals, Periscope follows.
After the video was shown, R The SPCA removed two cats from Zouma's house and initiated a procedure against him.
Zooma continued to play for West Ham despite controversy.
A spokesman for RSPCA said: “after a thorough investigation, we have begun the process of establishing a prosecution against Kurt Zouma and Yoan Zouma according to the Animal Peace Act.
The two cats continue to take care of RSPCA. We will be able to provide more information once a trial date is confirmed. ”
