Why did Einstein never wear socks?

Albert Einstein was an unusual young man whose greatest satisfaction and fulfillment was in thoughts about scientific theory and thinking outside the box, both professionally and scientifically.

Part of Einstein's charm was his disorderly appearance- unbroken hair, don't run socks and iron-all to absorb his heart... even though it's not an expression he would use.

Albert Einstein was very proud of the fact that he never wore socks.

He once wrote to his cousin (later his second wife) Elsa:

And if it's true in the most solemn cases, I managed to get away with socks and hide my lack of citizenship in long shoes”.

But Einstein did not do so because of the rebellion.

But why would that mean leaving the sock comfort? Why not buy new ones when the old ones broke up?

For Einstein, socks were annoying because they were often made of holes. Plus, why run your socks i n shoes when only one of them would suffice?
