Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic has decided today to temporarily reduce the excise for oil and gasoline.
The government is regulating oil traders' margins and temporarily reducing the excise for oil and gasoline to ease price hikes” has said Plenkovic.
Plenkov has argued that decision by saying that if this price hikes were to last, the closure of many gas stations was seriously jeopardised.
In Kosovo every day the price of oil derivatives is “flying”, writes Periscopi.com.
All the Government of Kosovo has done is make a decision to determine the maximum prices for oil and oil derivatives. That's what oilmen opposed.
The excise tax is one of the main categories of revenues for Kosovo's budget with a turnout of about 40 per cent in total of customs-indicted revenues.
Days earlier Fadil Behrani, chairman of the Oil Association, has said that oilmen charge over 30 percent of the budget and, according to him, the excise they must pay is higher than that of countries in the region.
“as far as the oil sector is concerned, we charge the state budget approximately 30 percent. The oil sector requires a better perception as it is the largest contributor to the state budget. Countries in the region have a lower oil excise. Macedonia has the excise for 22 cents lower”.
Total revenues from the oil sector in Kosovo's budget are around 700m euros.
Kosovo's government has proudly promoted the filling of the state ark, which is largely made by the excise of oil, alcohol and tobacco, and not any new policy undertaken by it.
Oil prices in Kosovo today have marked the price of 61 euros. /PERISCOP
