The ministry said the parties should avoid escalation of the situation.
“We will monitor the situation and call on all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation and ensure the safety of relevant nuclear facilities,” said ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin at a daily conference.
Ukraine is highly dependent on nuclear energy and is home to 15 reactors, who produce about half of the country's electricity, according to the World Nuclear Association.
