Even BMW leaves Russia

The renowned car manufacturer has announced he is suspending all operations in Russia.
BMW has decided to stop sending vehicles to the Russian market, but also to stop their production in Kaliningrad. BMW has thus joined a considerable number of car producers and auto parts that are breaking off business ties with Russia, in line with sanctions imposed by Western countries.
“We condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine, and we are monitoring further developments with great concern and horror. Because of the current geopolitical situation, until the next decision, we are halting local production and export to the Russian market,” said a BMW spokesman.
As it is known, two years ago BMW gave up building a factory in Kaliningrad, although it maintained partnership with Russian producer Avtotor. The joint factory with the Avtotor assembles cars only from parts prepared in advance. Last year, about 12,000 cars have been mounted in this factory, while nearly 47,000 cars BMW have been exported across Russia from Germany.
