Major assistance in accession was the accession of the Kosovo Olympic Committee to the International, while years of work were successfully crowned, accepting into the big basketball house.
The delegation, led by former FBK leader Errolld Beleg, submitted the FIBA membership application on 5 February 2015. The positive response came on March 13th, after the meeting of the FIBA Executive Committee, which unanimously accepted the Kosovo Basketball Federation as its 215th member, writes the FBK official page.
Kosovo was later admitted to FIBA Europe. Kosovo plays all categories in international competitions, being equal to all states.
FIBA accession was a major step towards Kosovo basketball, following many difficulties, opening the doors to the international arena.
Today, Kosovo basketball players are equal to international ones, while many generations had worked for this day to come.
Kosovo has successfully organised several international competitions, rewarding FIBA confidence, and being an example for many other federations as far as event organisation is concerned.
Kosovo basketball players and basketball players have also won medals in European competitions, while the dream of many generations came to life on March 13th 2015. New generations already have open doors for successes, while there is no shortage of FBK work on massification and success in the international and local arena.
