Unconfirmed reports are circulated that as many as 17 people may have died following the match between host Queretaro and Atlas from Guadajara .C.
The match was interrupted at the 62nd minute, when numerous clashes broke out in the tribuna with men, tearing off their rivals' fans.
Atlas players quickly fled to the dressing rooms, as did some on Quertaro's side. The other Quaretaros players, including the Uruguayian goalkeeper Washington Aguere, stood by the bench trying to calm fans.
Shocking images scattered on the Internet show bloody fans some naked ones lying on the ground while others keep kicking and punching.
After several minutes of fighting in the tribuna, some of the clashes crossed the field, where they continued to punch and kick. Some fans were armed with chairs and metal bars.
A fan can be seen pulling a knife to cut off the nets of a goal. Others destroyed one team's bench, and some fought in the field tunnel.
“So far there is no death reports; 22 people injured, nine were sent to the General Hospital and, of them, two are in critical condition”, said by the state civil defence agency Querretaro.
The remaining “is stable. It should be mentioned that all the injured are males and is now confirmed that four were from the state of Jalysco”.
Guadalcanal is the capital of Jalysco.
League condemned violence in a message in its official Twitter account. League President Michael Arriola said the match would not resume Saturday. He said those responsible for the lack of security in the stadium would be punished.
Football fans responded with great disgust when photos and video crashes were distributed to social media.
