Zouma may be sentenced to prison after raping his cat

A video showing the 27-year-old West Ham and the French National Guardian has led a group of animal rights advocates in France to launch a trial trial against French footballer.

A spokesman from the group said that “strongly condemns this horrible act, we have demanded that the player be suspended by the national team, and we have denounced it”.

New animal protection laws in France have entered into force in 2021, which means that animal abuse is punished for up to four years in prison and with a fine of up to 50,000 euros.

On Tuesday, Zouma made an apology by saying that “I deeply regretted” and stressed that the video is “an internal incident”.

Reactions have also occurred from senior French politicians who condemned the footballer's behaviour, saying he must leave the French national, writes Independes, Periscope.
