Kurti in London meets with BERZH management directors, discuss energy

Prime Minister Albin Kurti held the first bilatheral meeting under the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Summit, held today in London with the manager of the EURZH for Sustainable Infrastructure, Nadida Parsad and Green Economic Management Director and Klime Harry Boyd Carpinter.
Among the main topics of the meeting were environment and energy. Prime Minister Kurti spoke of current power generation capacities in the country and old thermal power technology, as well as of Kosovo's experience in coping with the global energy crisis.
He stressed the country's goal and need for electricity diversification, with particular attention to renewable resources, and that in this direction the government of the country is working on drafting the Energy Strategy, which, in addition to defuelling, will aim to maintain energy supply security and consumer sustainability by increasing the use of clean energy.
Meanwhile, Finance, Labour and Transfers Minister Iron Murati spoke of the importance of electricity efficiency and current projects being implemented. He added that the EBRD has an important role in the Kosovo Government's goals of a fair energy transition.
Nandita Parshad, on the other hand, voiced support for the Government of Kosovo's intentions of defuelisation and clean energy. She said the EBRD is ready to help Kosovo in its goal of a direct energy transition.
Other opportunities and forms of co-operation between Kosovo and the EURZH were discussed at the meeting.
