In a war that has been at least a decade in preparation, Amir Khan and Kel Brook will finally face each other in Manchester Arena on Saturday.
A loss for Khan or Brook, both 35-year-old and former world champions, may mark retirement, but this war has to do with the right to brag about two men who have shared a huge rivalry dating back to their amateur days.
Khan made his professional debut in 2005 after winning silver at the 2004 Olympic Games. He became a Commonwealth lightweight champion in 2008 and won the WBA title in 2009.
He lost his title against Danny Garcia in 2012. He has been competing for many more titles since then; He lost to Canelo Alvarez for WBC in the middle weight in 2016 and by Teresa Creedford for the WBO title in light weights in 2019. Khan's last war was a TKO victory over Billy Deb in July 2019.
Brook made his debut in 2004. He became British lightweight champion in 2008 and won the IBF Lightweight title in 2014 against Shawn Porter.
He tested his luck against Gennadiya Golovkin for middleweight titles W BC, IBF and IBO in 2016 and lost through TCO. Brook lost the IBF title in light weights by Errol Spence Jr. May 2017. As his last war was lost by Crawford in November 2020.
