Zelensky: As holidays approach, Russian terrorists can be activated again

With the holiday season approaching, Russian terrorists could again activate”, Zelensky said in his daily speech.

The president met with Ukrainian military leaders on December 23rd, after returning to Kiev from Washington, where he said the army is preparing for the coming months and next year.

Our “tasks remain unchanged. This is the liberation of our land, is the security of our people, the reconstruction of our country after the Russian attacks. These are the components of Ukraine's victory, which we are offering step by step”, he said.

Zelensky's visit to the US on 21 December was the first after the launch of Ukraine's Russian occupation on 24 February. He said US aid to Ukraine is crucial.

At the White House, he held a meeting with US President Joe Biden, with whom he discussed the assistance and course of war. He also held talks with Congress leaders from both parties.

Biden announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth $1.85 billion which includes a battery of missile defense system, Patriot.

Zelensky said the Patriot system is the most powerful part of the new package.

However, this system will not be positioned immediately, because American troops must first train Ukrainian forces on how to use and maintain it.

Patriot is considered one of the most advanced American air defence systems and offers protection against aircraft, floating missiles, and ballistics. / REL/
