It appeared on social networks, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky without warning visited Bakhmut, the town in which the bloody battles between Ukrainian and Russian forces have been continuing for months.
“Bahmut is the front to which the hardest fighting takes place. The invaders are trying to break us up in Bakhmu, but they're just breaking their forces and Wagner's mercenaries” is said to be in the statement.
Newsweek writes that according to some estimates, Russian losses could reportedly amount to over 100,000 Russian soldiers killed over the next weekend.
Several prisoners and other fighters in Bakhmut are fighting that Moscow views as “extenuative delivery material”. They were sent to the front to protect Wagner's mercenaries.
Independent Russian media MediZone writes that the number of men in Russian prisons in the past two months has dropped by 23 grand.
