Ukraine claims Russia is preparing for new military mobilization

Ukrainian Defence Minister Olexiy Reznikov claimed Russia, which has begun the invasion of Ukraine over 10 months ago, will soon announce further military mobilization. He called on the Russians to avoid mobilization. “Avoid mobilization in every way. When bunker leaders are unable to send recruits [...]
“Smangni mobilization in every way. When bunker leaders are unable to send new recruits, they will be forced to accept defeat. And the war will end. That will happen, however, but the question is at what price. And will this price be paid with your blood”, Reznikov said through a video message published in the late hours of December 30th.
According to Reznikov, Russia is preparing to close borders for men of military age.
I want to appeal to all Russian recruits. First, this applies to residents of large cities. I really know you have about a week left to make at least one choice. At the beginning of January, Russian authorities will close borders for men, then they will declare war situation”, Rezikov said.
He added that Belarus could also take similar action.
Russia invaded Ukraine 10 months ago, under claims of a threat to its NATO-organised security. War has left tens of thousands dead, and millions of others have moved.
Having denied that he would declare military mobilization, Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 21st ordered a partial “mobile”. The world, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, declared that the army was intended to recruit up to 300,000 people.
The publication of the mobilization prompted a massive ecstasy from Russia. Hundreds of thousands of Russians fled the country, heading to Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Reznikov's video comes after he told the Guardian newspaper that the training of tens of thousands of mobilised men and new recruits in Russia could be an indication of the Kremlin's intentions to launch a new offensive in Ukraine. / REL
