He died at 82.
Pele was considered one of the best football players in football history, while three times he won the World Cup in a row with Brazil.
Pele had been treated for colon cancer after surgery to remove a tumor in September 2021 and had sought regular medical treatment.
After being admitted back to the hospital in late November to reevaluate his cancer treatment, he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection before moving to initial care when his body did not react to chemotherapy.
