A Taliban spokesman said a man named Tymir was killed in a sports stadium filled with people in the southwestern province of Farah after he accepted the murder.
Tens of leaders of the group, including most of the senior ministers in their government, participated in the hanging.
This comes several weeks after judges were instructed to fully observe the Sheriat law.
The Supreme Leader of the Taliban, Haibatullah Akhundzada, issued the decree last month, ordering judges to issue sentences, including public executions, public amputation and stoning.
However, correct crimes and corresponding sentences have not been officially determined by the Taliban.
The Islamic militant group had promised to follow a milder version of harsh rule that characterised their earlier ruling stance from 1996 to 2001.
