Stoltenberg says that the 2022 was a year like no other, while it shares gratitude to NATO veterans for their service and keeping 30 nations safe.
Hello to all members of our service. This year has been a year like no other. Russia's illegal struggle of aggression in Ukraine has made our world more dangerous. In the face of the biggest security crisis in Europe since World War II, NATO has responded with strength and unity. Within hours of the invasion, we activated our defence plans. We now have over 40,000 troops under NATO command in the eastern part of the Alliance. Based on considerable capacity in air and sea. We've doubled the number of our combat groups, from four to eight. And we will continue to strengthen our prevention and protection. What you, our armed forces, do, sends a clear message to Moscow and anyone who would challenge us: NATO is here. We will guard and protect every inch of our territory. This year, I've had the privilege of meeting many of you. Deception in Norway. The defense of the sky by Ramstein Air Command. Serving aboard the USS aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush. In our dislocations from Baltic to the Black Sea. Or training Ukrainian forces in the United Kingdom. I've seen how many professionals you're dedicated to. So I went to take advantage of the opportunity to thank you personally. Wherever you are determined. North Atlantic to Mediterranean. Maintaining a safe environment and security in Kosovo, which is key to the stability of the Western Balkan region. Or helping Iraq security forces to ensure that I SIS not to return. You play an essential role in our safety. And NATO allies are investing more in defence. Supporting our armed forces makes our Alliance stronger and all our people safer. So thank you very much for your service. And I wish you and your families a peaceful holiday and a happy New Year.
2022 was a year like no other. My heartest thanks go to #NATO You know, you're just saying, "I'm not going to go out there." With you all happy days and best dreams for the new year. Pic.twitter. com/ A9KER8 LJq5
