Kosovo's special prosecutor has reacted to yesterday's statement by Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca, where he said the chief prosecutor has the file for the north in the drawer since September last year but that no action has been taken. Special Prosecution has said prosecutors have undertaken all actions and have moons [...]
Special Prosecutors have said that prosecutors have taken all actions and have Monday all necessary authorizations for police to take all investigative actions, including arrests under warrants issued for all persons suspected in these investigative files.
From the SP, they say the prosecution is running investigations and overseeing police work during the investigation, until additional actions of police investigative bodies are undertaken under orders and authorisations of the prosecution.
In response, they say Kosovo's Special Prosecutor has handled cases that occurred in northern Kosovo, of which there have been arrests, indictment and judicial examinations, and some cases even targeted by the team leading the chief prosecutor.
Full response:
Regarding the declaration of Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Glauk Konjufca, of December 8th 2022 at Dukaagjini Radio Television, Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK), with the aim of correct and accurate information of public opinion, considers it necessary to explain as follows:
P The SRK as competent authorities for investigating criminal acts, in which there are also criminal acts that were committed in the northern part of Kosovo, ensures public opinion that for these cases competent prosecutors have taken all investigative actions as defined by legislation in force, giving police the necessary authorization to take all investigative actions, including arrests under warrants issued for all persons suspected in this investigation. As the prosecution is defined with legislation in effect, it leads the investigation and oversees police work during the investigation, while other actions under prosecutorial orders and authorisations are undertaken by police investigative bodies.
P The SRK reports to the general public that the prosecution for its work does not make public statements about the investigative actions it takes in the investigation, and that it has not done so even when the chief prosecutor of the Kosovo Republic has personally come to the scene when Kosovo police are attacked in the north, because it considers that rule of rule and law in every corner of the country is the purpose of the prosecution's work, and that it is publicising the investigative actions of no case.
However for the sake of fair announcement, The SPRK reports that it has handled many criminal cases that have occurred in northern Kosovo, some of which have resulted in arrests, charges, and many of them are still in court examinations, and some of these cases are targeted by the Joint Team for Elections and Determination of Rand Crimes, which the chief prosecutor leads. PSRK's.
In the end, we want to strongly stress that P The SRK is fully committed to ensuring that all criminal cases in the legal capacity of the prosecution are handled professionally and with the highest efficiency and invites all institutions to refrain from statements about criminal cases, especially those in the investigation phase, because such statements apart from damaging the prosecutor's image in public eyes, but not only, can create uncertainty for citizens and encouragement for all persons involved in illegal criminal activities.
