Prime Minister Edi Rama has warmly welcomed Kosovo President Mrs. Vjosa Osmani at the opening of the EU Summit, the Western Balkans.
Photos of Osman's waiting show both leaders finally smiling.
The story of the cold double reports is known.
They have often become the subject of photos that have illustrated themselves the rapores between them, from a different summit conference.
Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, President Osmani had criticised Prime Minister Edi Rama over his support of Serbia.
She had stated that politicians could not be presented as Serbia's “survivors of face”, in terms of sanctions she has not imposed on Russia ( referring to Prime Minister Rama).
I mentioned what our differences are (with Rama, v. I don't think that the approach where Albanian politicians, regardless of whether they are from Kosovo, Albania, Northern Macedonia or Montenegro or Presevo, are transformed into apologist of Serbia's policies is something that helps both Kosovo and Albanians. I don't think it's fair to reason on Serbia's approach and pro-Russian actions, I don't think it's right to reason that Serbia has not imposed sanctions against Russia because it then goes into what is called the “policy of saving a regime in Serbia that has also served at the time of (Slobodan) Milosevic”, the president for the Voice of America had declared.
WE LEARN: The EU-Western Balkans Summit is being held in Tirana. This summit, is the first to develop on the territory of a country of the region that is not in the European Union and has energy crises, the war in Ukraine, as well as the migration crisis.
The country's president, Vjosa Osmani, has declared that Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, is the continuation of the old mind of the 1990s. According to her, the European Union-led dialogue and supported by the US is the only way towards the eventual agreement with Serbia. So it has been declared, as it has arrived for the EU-Western Balkans Summit, which is being held in Tirana. The head of state has stressed that this summit is no place for dialogue or negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia. It has added to journalists that the European Union must move from words to actions.
The summit, which is being held in the Albanian capital, Osmani has called the initiative very important for the Western Balkans and the European Union.
“Unfortunately, Vuciq is a continuation of a mindset that has existed in the 1990s in Serbia, and it is precisely this thought that led to war, destruction, in killing 150 thousand people who are mentality, that needs to be rejected by all... What Kosovo is showing these days is the maximum of what Vuciqi is showing. Though they have never apologized for the crimes they committed, and we believe that the dialogue led by the European Union and fully supported by the United States is the only way forward to reaching a final agreement that is at the heart of mutual recognition.”, Osman said.
“I hope that the conclusions as well as statements will show this European Union co-ordination towards an accelerated process for the Western Balkans. At the same time, I am here as the leader of the most pro-European country that exists and in that sense, we have shown commitment to the European Union and EU values in any action we have taken, especially when we are harmonising 100% with the EU on any foreign policy and security decision, the approach to sanctions against Russia, and in refusing any malicious influence and factor like Russia and China, but at the same time we need the EU to move from words to deeds. Especially when it comes to visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens, but as you know and as I will announce here today in front of all EU leaders, Kosovo will submit its EU membership application by the end of this year, and of course, hope through the full support of members of the European Union.”, Ousmane has declared it.
“ This is a meeting between the EU and the Western Balkans, and here is no place for dialogue or negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia, as you know, is a special process that I repeat, is facilitated by the European Union in Brussels, but there is a process that we believe should focus on mutual recognition, and at the same time protect and maintain Kosovo's territorial integrity and sovereignty as unitary character, as well as its constitutional system”, Osman added.
While it has been declared for visa liberalisation for Kosovo, Osmani stressed that even today at this summit will call for support in the council meeting to be held this month.
“Meanwhile, what happened is that northern Macedonia, as well as Albania, have moved ahead with the opening of membership talks. And of course, there has also been a decision by the EU ambassadors, the unanimous decision on the full support of visa liberalisation for Kosovo, where we hope and believe we will call on all leaders today to vote in favour, in the conclusions of the council meeting to be held on December 15th. And I think this would be a big step forward to give a clear signal to the Western Balkans that it matters whether you stay with EU values or not, because sometimes I have to admit that there are strange messages sent, because on the one hand, you have countries that are completely connected to the European Union and on the other hand, you have other countries that are completely connected to Putin. They should not be treated equally. Either you're a Ukrainian side, or a Russian side, and this should be worth”, Ousmane is finished.
Under the EU-Western Balkans Summit, agreement has been reached on Rwaming tariffs between Western Balkan countries and the European Union, which sets a reduction in tariffs in the coming year.
The summit, held in Tirana, is the first to be held on the territory of a country of the region that is not in the European Union and has an energy crisis, the war in Ukraine, as well as the migration crisis. As summit works take place at the venues of the National Arena stadium. /Periscopi
