Serwer: Serbia has finally moved in Russian direction

American professor and expert on Western Balkan issues, Daniel Serwer, has said that Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia have finally chosen Brussels instead of Moscow, until Serbia has finally moved in Russian direction. Serbia again refused to line up with EU sanctions on Russia, its leadership denounced Albanian leaders and Kosovo Serbs willing to participate in its government in racist terms, Belgrade's friends destroyed an office responsible for holding municipal elections in the majority Serb part in Kosovo”, Cerwer said during a discussion at the Atlantic Council.

“Now is the scene of a dangerous clash between Serbia's gangster allies and Kosovo special police forces”.

He has stressed that Serbia's President, Aleksandar Vucic, has demanded that Serbian troops return to Kosovo, until he has added that “this would cause serious violence, as according to him, Vucic's friends in Moscow are satisfied”.

Cerwer added that Americans have not adapted their policy in light of current reality.

Serbia is currently lost to the West. Belgrade is not really pursuing EU membership, which Vucic considers very distant. Instead, he is pursuing the Serbian “world”, an attempt to bring the Serb population under Belgrade's control in neighbouring countries”.

According to Serwer, it has even succeeded in Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“None of these countries will be able to follow their dreams of EU membership, as long as Belgrade uses Serbian citizens to make the status quo”.
