In a statement published by the Ministry of Defence, Vuchev has given no concrete reasons for this decision, except that he said the Serbian Armed Forces would be the strongest “crus to break the bad wishes and intentions of” those who “wish to harm our people”.
I want to inform Serbia's opinion, not just Serbia, that last night General [Milan] Mojsilovic, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, and I received a duty -- an order from the President of the Republic as Commander General [Aleksandar Vuciq] -- to increase the number of members of special units in the Serbian Army by the end of 2023<1>, Vuchev said.
Vuchevic said the Serbian Army would have 5,000 trained soldiers and prepared with the most modern, ready “weapons to protect the homeland, carry out any duties at any time and in any part of our territory”.
They will be willing to respond to all the challenges our country faces, Vuchev added.
That decision comes a day after Serbian Army Chief of General Staff Milan Mojsilovic said there has been a meeting with Serbia's president and military leadership in connection with events in Kosovo on the evening of December 25th. After that meeting he went to Rashka, south of Serbia.
Mojsilovic told Pink television that the situation in Kosovo is such that it requires the presence of the Serbian Army along the way, as he has said, <x0 administrative liner”. / REL
