Serbian ambist in the north: We get nothing with these barricades

Dusan Milunovic, asamblist in the Northern Mitrovica municipality's Assembly, has told Balkans N1 television that even before there were barricades set by Serbs, he is convinced that they will be removed and the parties will present as <x0-diplomatic or don't know what kind of victory”.

But the question he raises and believes to be key has been done with “what did we win with these barricades?”.

This city will surely rise, this is not the first crisis, nor the first barricades. We had barricades in 2012 and two years ago”, he said.

Milunovic recalled that even a month ago there were barricades due to license plates.

He says that in fact always after the barricades are removed nothing good comes.

After those barricades, we have won two Kosovo Police bases in the north that no one has paid attention... Now we have these barricades that will probably be removed and presented as diplomatic victories or something like that”.

It has already been 10 days since the northern part of Kosovo has remained blocked by numerous barricades imposed by Serbs in the north.

Kosovo police have not taken action on their departure, since Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared they are waiting for KFOR to withdraw.

On the other side, KFOR is not driving them away, as these are expecting a political solution to the issue, only then to take action of their departure.

Because of the barricades, two border points at Jarinje and Brnjak have had to be closed, and circulation has been completely interrupted.

Except for people who are not going through, there are even close to 20 police officers trapped in the north, reports Albanian Post days ago.

Serbs placed barricades in the north after police arrested Dejan Pantic, who had earlier attacked the Kosovo Police.

Before placing the barricades, Serbs in the northern part had left institutions at all levels, as a sign of their dissatisfaction with the Government's decision to implement measures against Serbian illegal plates with K.M. initials and others.

The government then gave up this decision and allowed the flow of cars with these plates, but Serbs did not return to institutions.

They have now set conditions for the return of the Association of Serb-run municipalities.

But, Prime Minister Kurti has declared that they do not start establishing association unless this issue is outlined in a comprehensive agreement with Serbia.

The other side, Serbia, insists that the Association be established before the launch of final talks, calling the 2013 agreement in Brussels, where Kosovo and Serbia had agreed on the establishment of this body.

Currently, the situation has remained frozen with potential passage.

Another disturbing element contributing to the eventual explosion is also considered the organisation of various criminal groups in the north and in Serbia.

Part of them on Sunday have staged protests near the border with Kosovo.

For this reason, KFOR has deployed troops at border points, thus restoring the situation before 2011 when Kosovo was not managing this part of the border.
