Security expert Drizan Shala has declared that politically, Kosovo institutions are back before 2008.
Shala has indicated that during today KFOR has engaged with additional forces near Kosovo's border with Serbia after having had information that an ultra-nationalist Serbian-Montenegrin group will try to burn the border checkpoint in Jarinje, as it did in 2008 when independence was declared.
According to Shala KFOR with the commitment of the presidential relevant units has proved that any attempt will confront the international force that is the only security guarantee in that part at the moment.
The longer the barricades remain, the ones that are, the issue will become more complicated and everything will be done at the political level”, Shala stressed in an interview for Radio Dukagjin.
He has added that the political leaders' visits to that part in that kind of situation do not contribute to security in that part, as according to him, the situation there depends on political action, and if these are reckless they will produce tensions in the security sphere.
The “Visita that the interior minister made in that part, de fact has not contributed, has not served a reduction in tension in that part... After that visit we also had a new blockade. This proves that a movement trying to convey a political message is reflecting on the addition of new barricades”, the security expert has added.
Shala emphasises that the greatest fear is whether these groups of ultra-nationalists to create new barricades, and convince KFOR that Kosovo institutions will completely leave this part of Kosovo, it would be one of the worst moments since Kosovo's declaration of independence, as there would be abolition of constitutionality.
He has declared that with this situation we have returned as before Kosovo's declaration of independence when there were such movements of Serb nationalist groups.
Since the deployment of the first barricade, Shala points out, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, along with Interior Minister Jhelal Svecla, has had to sit down and any further action to co-ordinate with KFOR, so that they do not come into a situation for our officials to remain trapped at the border for 10 days.
“In terms of security we haven't taken certain parameters, because 2021, September, it's been an impact on what would expect us if we made any reckless moves and we're unappreciated, and we haven't changed from the mode of action, the same problem we have, we have barricades, we have officials in the north block, we don't have free flow, we have blocked border points, so the question is that we're going back to 2021 as far as the blockades, in the political context, we're standing before 20081x>
Security expert has declared there are threats, blackmail, indicators that there are armed groups who, with everyone awaiting a confrontation with Kosovo institutions, have no permission from Belgrade to attack international missions.
Regarding the removal of the barricades, Shala declared that all international actors have declared they must be removed from the barricades themselves. They add that there is increased presence of KFOR in that part, and if these barricades would prevent any KFOR exercise, we would have the removal.
