Prime Minister Albin Kurti says Serbia is not interested in reaching the final agreement, although confirms that in January 2023, there will be new initiatives to prepare the next meeting in Brussels.
Kurti, in an interview for Kosova Prees, speaking of the Franco-German plan for dialogue, says its deadline by March of next year is made by dialogue mediators.
He stresses that Serbia is more interested in causing crises in which it then appears itself as the factor to solve them.
The “is expected that in January, there will be new initiatives to prepare meetings in Brussels. By August 18th, there has been a meeting in the negotiation process, let's say historical but small, since the agenda has had the logical order of things for the first time... Three weeks later, the proposal was made that we considered a good basis for further talks by special emissaries who also came to Pristina with what has been called the Franco-German initiative for the deal that resembles two Germanys with different elements and options. I believe that there the call made in European democratic values is positive, but the negotiation process will show how it will go further. But it is clear that Serbia is not interested in agreement and dialogue. She is only interested in causing crises in which she then appears herself as the factor that solves them”, he says.
As for resignations from local Serb institutions, Kurti says he cannot appeal to them to return to institutions, but they must apply after abandoning them.
“I cannot call for return of those who threw off the uniforms of the Republic of Kosovo. I can call everyone for application, so there must be a new application. But the return can't be that I have no regrets that they are out, but it must have regretted them for abandoning institutions. Institutions are not only government, Albanians and I believe it is necessary for Serbs to apply”, he adds.
The rate for Kosova Prees speaks of a lack of recognition and membership in international organisations during 2022.
The “are not easy new recognitions when we inherited old agreements within a dialogue, which has not been genuine and serious, with agreements which are not generally implemented because of Serbia, but these non-connouncious countries have been discouraged, saying they are waiting for the outcome of the dialogue. It is not easy to obtain new recognition when you are in this process. So when political dialogue began, especially from 2013 onward, everything became more difficult. But what we have undertaken in the Council of Europe on 12 May, we have applied for membership in the European Union on 15 December and at the same time, for what we are very happy is the formation of the working group for application in the near future for NATO membership, since the case, of course, the Partnership for Peace is the important mileical stone on the road ahead. It is expected that we will join NATO first, then the European Union, but we want to do both of these. We've got another option”, he ends.
