Powerful tremors were calculated as the fourth strongest earthquake in Texas history by the U.S. Weather Service. No injuries reported.
Except for some material damage, no one was reported to be injured.
The earthquake occurred inside North America's Tektonic Plaque, away from any border of the tectonic plaque, and therefore is considered an earthquake inside the bed”, the USGS said in a statement.
Over the past two decades, the Central and Eastern United States has experienced an increase in earthquake shows, the agency said.
“Scientific studies have linked much of this growth to human activity, mainly with the injection of sewage in deep wells. However, other mechanisms such as liquefiing fluids, improved oil recovery, or plumbing fault processes may also be triggerers”.
