Haxhiu says the justice system is the main pillar of a state's democratic functioning, and, as such, the Vetting process has been needed.
At the Ad-hoc Commission for the development of the process of transitional evaluation, also known as the Vetting Commission, Haxhiu has said that recommendations of the Venice Commission have been taken on the basis.
She said this process has been among the main objectives of this government.
“We had demanded that we have an opinion from Venice and their opinion, although it does not support 100 percent of what the Government has proposed for an overall Vetting of the justice system, we have, however, received on the basis of those remarks. We have agreed with the Venice Commission's recommendations and we know that these recommendations are not binding, we have done so, even at the Venice Commission session where the draft for the Kosovo Bureau of Inexistable Confisification was discussed, received big words from the commissioner, who declared Kosovo is an example of taking the recommendations of the Venice Commission”, Haxhiu said.
MP PDK, Rashit Qalaj, said the Vetting process is one of the most important processes for the justice system. But also, Qalaj asked Vetting for the security system.
But, Minister Haxhiu said a Vetting even for the security system is on schedule for this government. He said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on this, writes Economy.
It's easier, and as you know, we have Vetting in the police system. The MPB is working in this direction and the circumstances in the north have caused us to disagree more in this process. It is easier because there is no need for constitutional changes”, she said.
LDK MP Doarsa Kica-Jeli asked if they are working in that direction to secure the votes of non-party MPs to vote on constitutional changes.
For this, Haxhiu said it would be quite challenging but also demanding the assistance of opposition parties and the international community.
