Nearly 1.8 million homes and businesses are without electricity in the eastern half of the United States and Texas, as winter storms hit most of the country.
According to PowerOutage.us, the largest number of disruptions is in the southeast, with 465,635 people without electricity in North Carolina, followed by Tennessee, Maine, Alabama, and South Carolina.
Nearly half of the 50 American countries counted more than 10,000 people with interruptions due to storms.
During Christmas weekend, storms are expected to bring storm conditions to the Great Lakes region, heavy rains followed by a rapid freeze on the East Coast, and wind at a speed of 100km/h, and severe cold from south to the border of Mexico.
The most interrupted company was Duke Energy Corp with 454,497 residents without electricity. /abcnews. al
