European Council President Charles Michel said on Monday that the EU would give a update on visa liberalisation for Kosovo.
“We will provide more information Tuesday, but I can tell you progress is being made,” said at a joint press conference with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob in Ljubljana, ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tirana on Tuesday.
“We can see that important steps ahead have been made recently. Tomorrow we want to have a joint statement that will bring the Western Balkans closer to the European Union,”, he added.
Kosovo is among the small number of countries in Europe that are outside the EU visa-free regime.
Last week, ambassadors of EU member states agreed to green light European Council presidency talks with the European Parliament on visa liberalisation for Kosovo.
Michel added that the summit would include energy crises, war in Ukraine and the migration crisis.
