This is a historic meeting during which we wrote the story. We write our history because for the first time, this meeting was organised in the Western Balkan region. For the first time, the European Union and Balkan leaders are around the same table, following the meeting that took place in Brdo, Slovenia and the summit in Brussels during the summit that took place in July. This meeting today is a declaration accompanying your work, which is important because it contains additional steps on the path to integration. I deeply believe that our children's future will be safer and more prosperous with the Western Balkans within the EU. And this common conviction unites us to favour through concrete and tangible projects this approach to the Western Balkans. We all have our duties to carry out, there is expectations in order for reforms in the rule of law, reform in justice, fighting corruption to advance. On the other hand, the European Union needs to reinforce its capacity to reinforce the common market, is the idea of the roting agreement that was signed today is a step ahead of the Brdo summit where this idea arose, and this will make it possible that in the coming year and on the 2027 horizon, we reduce and take away the cost of roaming, which is to confirm the concrete commitment to companies, to contact between citizens and the tourist development of the Western Balkans region<1>, he said.

The EU-Western Balkans summit is taking place this Tuesday for the first time in a Balkan country. The bloc's leaders and their counterparts from the six Western Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia have gathered in Tirana, one day becoming Europe's top centre.

The European Commission's press office described the summit as “an opportunity to reconfirm the great importance of strategic partnership between the EU and the Western Balkans, this region with a clear European perspective”.

The first step of leaders began with the signing of the highly-disputed Ringing tariff reduction agreement. This is an agreement between European Union and Western Balkan operators and will take effect on October 1st 2023.
