On the evening of December 27th, the foreign ministry as it indicated that Serbian “criminal groups blocked the border in Merdare, invited all Kosovo and diaspora citizens to use other border checkpoints to reach Kosovo.
Because of barricades imposed by local Serbs, as of December 10th, two other border checkpoints have been provisionally closed with Serbia, the one at Jarinje and Brnjak.
Blocking roads north of Kosovo has entered 19th day.
Since Saturday 10 December, local Serbs have set up barricades as a sign of dissatisfaction with the arrest of a former Kosovo Serb police member, Dejan Pantek, whom authorities in Kosovo say has organised attacks on the Central Election Commission offices in the north.
Kosovo police forces continue to be deployed in the north.
As of December 6th, several armed incidents have been marked in four municipalities in northern Kosovo, Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok.
There have also been attacks on the Kosovo Police.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, December 27th, Kosovo police have confirmed that a new barricade is being imposed in the Bosnjak Lagen in northern Mitrovica and one in Zvecan at the country known as the Duda Kershi.
