Lajcak visits Pristina, Belgrade on 14 December

European Union Chief diplomat Josep Borrell has confirmed that the EU's envoy for Kosovo dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, will visit Pristina and Belgrade on 14 December to help reduce tensions in northern Kosovo. Borrell has confirmed that the situation in northern Kosovo has been a topic of discussion at a meeting of EU foreign ministers. According to the announcement, all have agreed that steps must be taken for lowering “tensions.
Since December 6th, a series of armed incidents have been recorded in northern Kosovo, which have culminated in the settlement of barricades in the afternoon of December 10th.
Local Serbs began setting up barricades in the north in recognition of the arrest of a former Kosovo Police member.
Authorities in Kosovo said the former police officer, Dejan Pantic, allegedly organised “the terrorist attack” on the CEC offices in the north.
He was appointed a month of detention on December 12th.
The international community has called for the barricades to be removed and has condemned attacks on Kosovo Police and the EU mission in Kosovo for rule of law, EULEX.
