Lajcak: If the Kosovo agreement- Serbia does not happen until early 2024, it may not happen at all

He said the proposal for the final solution is the European proposal with the strong involvement and support of Germany and France.

Lajcak said about RTV 21 that the goal is for the full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia to be conducted by the beginning of 2024 and what is not done by this period, he said, may not be done at all.

“We're here to help, we're here to mediate, we're talking on behalf of the European Union, but I'm believing in the name of the US, we can't want normalisation more than Kosovo and Serbia, so if the parties disagree then there'll be no normalisation, and therefore there won't be progress on the European road, and you'll continue to deal with issues like that of license plates, or others, instead of walking towards European integration, and I don't think that would be a very encouraging prospect<1>

So I believe that normalisation can wait, but I don't see why to wait, so to do our best to take the rest of the time, make and a call to this case, use this unique and very favourable moment, all the elements are available, we have full support for both the EU and the US, this situation to end before 2024, as then the EU has European elections and the United States also, so that there will be no time and opportunity to focus on Kosovo-Serbia-<1.

What happens after the elections is especially difficult for American people to predict, so I guess what doesn't happen until early 2024 may not be done at all. So let's seize this opportunity and all the support of the international community, and achieve as much as we can, for a full normalization of relations”, Lajcak has declared.
