Kurti: Escobar making concessions with Serbia

Prime Minister Kurti, in interview for Bosnian television “O Kanal” has said that US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Esocbar makes concessions to Belgrade and that they most disagree on certain points.

I agree with a lot of what Mr. Escobar says. But there are some things we disagree about. For example, we have found that we have different opinions about the Open Balkans projects. And on the other hand, I think he (Eskobar) wants the good for Serbia. He also wishes Kosovo well. He wishes our entire region. But Mr. Escobar thinks diplomacy, with exceptionally good behaviour towards Belgrade, will turn to him. But we who live here know it's not. Because Belgrade, being not democratic, only reinforces the attitude that our generosity understands as fear for them.”

I think Mr. Escobar's behaviour and statements to Belgrade are concessions. But Belgrade, on the other hand, does not understand these concessions. They don't think it's an Escobar virtue. They can't think this is America's generosity. They think, but they're afraid of us. So let's ask for more. I think even Mr. Escobar, if he hasn't understood it so far, will soon realize that this generosity to Belgrade is not worth it.”, Kurti said when he asks if Escobar makes concessions to Serbia.

And Kurti responded that way when asked why it is against the open Balkans:

“I think the European Balkans are quite open, while the Open Balkans are enough European. I think we need a democratic and European Balkans. While the Balkan Open wants the Balkans to be open to the Russian Federation. Like Serbia is open to the Russian Federation. ”
