Kurti: Agreement with Serbia could be reached within months

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said the barricades in the north must be removed. Also, he has said an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia can be reached within months. But, according to Kurt, the greatest involvement of Brussels and Washington needs to be reached. “With trust on one side and purpose [...]
But, according to Kurt, the greatest involvement of Brussels and Washington needs to be reached.
“With confidence on one side and good intent on the other, a few months are needed for a deal. I don't think it takes years, but a few months. It takes a greater involvement of Brussels and Washington, in particular over Belgrade, which unfortunately is not being distanced either by Milosevic or by Putin”, Kurti said.
Kurti has declared that Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla is in constant contact with KFOR and EULEX for removing barricades.
The Barricades in the north are not expressions of power, but of powerlessness. Those barricades must be removed. We have given KFOR some time to remove. The interior minister is in constant contact with KFOR and with EULEX to remove these barricades that are not civilians, but are of armed criminal groups whose leaders have warrants from the Republic of Kosovo and are on the US Treasury blacklist. The sooner they are removed, it will be better for Kosovo, but also for Serbian citizens”, Kurti said in an interview for A2 CNN, broadcast Report Express
Kurti has said Kosovo Serbs will not be used as instruments from Belgrade for hegemonic aspirations. According to the prime minister, Belgrade cannot be compensated for Milosevic's losses.
“Serbs cannot allow to be used as an instrument by Belgrade for hegemonic aspirations and, on the other hand, to the Kosovo government, they have guarantees of their rights and ears that listen to all requirements they may have. I am not prime minister only of Albanians, I am of all citizens of the republic, regardless of ethnicity, age, gender and religion. But we cannot compensate Belgrade for the losses Milosevic has caused to Milosevic with his genocide policy. Sometimes they want to return before declaring independence in 2007, sometimes they want to return before Kosovo's liberation in 1998 or 1999. None of this is possible. The sooner they become aware of this, the better for them themselves will be. This hysteria in Belgrade must end and thus have a political and social normalisation between the two states”, Kurti added.
