Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi over the tense situation in the north has asked the government today not to hide behind KFOR, but to act on the basis of Kosovo's Constitution and laws in power.
On the contrary, according to Krasniqi, the government must declare itself unable to govern the country.
Chairman The PDK, Krasniqi, in a proposal for Kosova Press, has asked the government to remove barricades from the north as soon as possible.
Krasniqi, expressing concern about the circumstances created in the north, has said the PDK has a clear request even to the international community.
“The PDK has been clear in its request and invitation to international co-operation to denounciate anti-state actions towards Kosovo, controlled and specifically instructed by Belgrade officials against criminal gangs. This would be like the first necessary step in order to then have a co-ordination between Kosovo security institutions and KFOR to move these barricades. We have had such situations in the past, but we have removed the barricades. The government cannot hide behind KFOR, the government must implement the Constitution and the laws, otherwise it must declare its inability to be the Kosovo government”, he says.
He stressed that the PDK has now asked for a number of days from the government to remove the barricades.
It's been a few days since we've invited the Government of Kosovo to take seriously the barricades issue in the north. You can't have the barricades back to normality, they don't become part of the daily barricades, because the purpose of criminal gangs controlling Serbian President Vuciq adding these barricades to the day is to become the new normal in the north. It would be a failure of the government and the governing institutions of our country if they gave in to this approach”, he said.
According to Krasniqi, if there was greater and more serious government insistence, it would result in the removal of barricades.
“I am sure that a serious greater government insistence and Prime Minister Albin Kurti's report to the international partners, primarily with KFOR, so far would have to deliver its results. It's been a few days since they said: “We're waiting for a little”, it's over, it can be too much, but one day it's gonna be late. And we'll come a day that we haven't had a chance to return the normality we have, and then the responsibility will be only to the government”, he says.
Meanwhile, the barricades in the country's north have now been placed and the two border checkpoints at Jarinje and Brnjak are closed.
