KFOR, peacekeeping mission NATO in Kosovo has announced that the following days will launch military exercises near the Novosell base.
Thus, KFOR intends to prepare to react to crises. According to the community released, heavy military vehicles and helicopters will be used in these exercises.
“The exercise aims to train KFOR units to guarantee freedom of movement in a crisis response situation and will consist in a series of tactical and logistical simulations using military columns with heavy engineering vehicles and helicopters”, the report said.
Through regular exercises, KFOR says “tifies all its capabilities and maintains the necessary level of operational readiness needed to continue meeting” tasks.
“KFOR is fully focused on the daily implementation of its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 to provide a safe environment and freedom of movement for the benefit of all communities living in Kosovo”, it is said at the end of the communiqué.
In recent days this mission has received a request from Serbia to allow the deployment of up to 1,000 Serb military and police troops in Kosovo. From KFOR, they said Friday that “we are currently reviewing” this request.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti continues to wait for KFOR to quickly remove the barricades imposed on Saturday last week, which blocked the main roads leading to two border points with Serbia at Jarinje and Brnjak. Last Sunday, Kurti said after the National Security Council meeting that he has asked NATO mission in Kosovo to ensure free movement in the north
