KFOR Troop Commander Angelo Michele Ristuccia has declared that recent events in northern Mitrovica are particularly concerned now on the eve of the elections. He has said that all the work done over the years in the north is at risk of losing until he has insisted that he will not tolerate violence in the country's north.
Our first “is the security of free movement in Kosovo. We are equipped to face such a situation. But we act in accordance with the situation in the best way possible, reacting to any situation ahead of us. We don't tolerate violence and score. We cannot tolerate and tolerate violence”, Rystuccia stressed for the public broadcaster.
KFOR commander has stressed that this military force is built, trained and equipped with enough human forces to carry out any kind of obligation within its mandate.
“Of course if the situation gets worse we can count on the support of all NATO and 27 member states. Since 1999, KFOR has had over 50,000 human forces, while now with progress of the situation the number of soldiers has decreased as long as security has improved. I believe we have enough force and equipment to deal with any situation. NATO has raised our presence on the ground and we are willing to face any situation if there is any additional force needed, but at the moment we don't think such conditions --” exist, Rictia added.
He has said that since the beginning of this year the situation has deteriorated in the sense of tensions. Before I was appointed head of this mission, tensions have started, and since then we have faced a situation where both sides have had reactions and counter reactions, in a way that is not bringing peace. There are people who are complaining or who bring confusion, so they don't bring peace. What has happened following the resignation of most officials from institutions that have been in northern Kosovo has created a kind of vacuum that has not contributed to the security situation”, the KFOR commander has indicated.
Riztuccia has said the recent event in the country's north is just one of those worried issues for the International Community, and according to him, the problem is there are many unresolved issues.
In the end, the Italian general has also delivered a message to the people of Kosovo and in general to the peoples of the Western Balkans.
Never stop the dream and lose hope for a better future. Don't follow toxic sanitizers. Let's try to find other sources and confront them rather than carry them the way they are. So let's not follow the toxic narrativa”, Rystuccia added.
