Just last week of November KEDS/ KESCO imported 4m euros of electricity. How much prices have grown shows the fact that if we compare with the entire month of November 2020, the import of electricity has been 2.3m euros. So this week's import of a week is costing 4 million, and two years ago it cost about 500,000 euros a week or 8 times less.
This has happened after energy prices on international markets have risen much last week. For the energy of peak time, about 250 euros per megawatt/h have reached 475 euros per megat/h, so nearly double compared to the weeks before.
Such figures increase unpredictableness and deepen the emergency situation in which Kosovo's electromagnetic system is located more than a year now, a crisis imported from abroad, which has hit Europe the worst.
The only solution under these circumstances remains to save as much electricity as possible so that the effects of import can be felt less. Kosovo produces up to 800MW/h, while during the end of November, demand has steadily reached over 1,000MW/h. So, right now, you need a loose import to cover the gene between production and consumption.
KEDS/ The KESCO is constantly engaged to inform consumers how they can save, including household consumers, schools, shopping centres, industry, small shops, gastronomial and various institutions.
But the effects must be higher, since, in addition to the increase in the price in international bells, consumption has increased last week of November compared to the same period last year.
So despite countless government savings and subsidies to stimulate savings, last week, when time cooled, there was no discount but increased consumption compared to the November 2021. The increase may be even greater with further temperature reductions, since a significant portion of citizens have chosen electricity heating as alternative. This is happening despite the fact that heating with electricity is one of the greatest challenges.
However, although with much difficulty and continuing obstacles along the way, we are trying to do our best, even though our finances are being exhausted with the rise in import prices in international bellas.
