The Doha-based television network said the indictment includes “new witness evidence and video footage that clearly show Abu Akleh and her colleagues were shot directly by Israeli invading forces.
Abu Akleh, 51, a Palestinian-American journalist, was killed on 11 May, meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry said she was shot in the head while covering an Israeli Army raid on the West Coast city of Yen.
In September, the Israeli Army acknowledged that Abu Akleh had been killed “wrongly” by the shooting of an Israeli soldier.
But Al Jazeera said Israeli claims that the journalist was wrongly killed were “groundless”, Anadolu writes, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
“The witnesses presented at the Prosecutor's Office confirm, no doubt, that in the area where Shireen was located there were no shots, except that the invading Israeli forces shot directly at”, it is further added.
“Witnesses show that this deliberate murder was part of a broader campaign to target and silence Al Jazeeran”, the network said.
Several leading media agencies, including Al Jazeera, CNN, Associated Press, Washington Post and New York Times, carried out their investigations, all of which concluded Abu Akle was killed by the Israeli bullet.
“Al Jazeera reiterates its commitment to achieving justice for Shireen and seeking all roads to ensure that responsibility is sought by authors and brought to justice”, the television network said.
